Vinted Users Express Anger About Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Changes
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
